Abstract
A series of metal complexes of NdIII and SmIII of type [Ln(L)CI(H2O)2] have been synthesized with some biologically active ligands (LH2). These ligands were prepared by the reactions of 3-(2-(H-indol-3-yl)ethyl]-5-hydrazinyl- 4H-,2,4-triazole-4-amine with aryl aldehyde/ketone. The structures of the complexes have been proposed on the basis of elemental analysis, electrical conductance, magnetic moment, IR, -H, 13C NMR and UV-Vis spectra. Thermal studies. of the complexes are also reported. The Schiff bases and their metal complexes have been screened for antibacterial (Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coll, Staphylococcus aureus) and antifungal activities (Aspergillus Niger, A. flavus). The screening results have been correlated with the structural features of the compounds.
