Abstract

We have developed the synthetic strategy of well-defined asymmetric star-branched polymers containing poly(dimethylsiloxane) segments by a coupling reaction of polymer bearing an anionized 1,1-diphenylethylene moiety and in-chain-functionalized poly(dimethylsiloxane) with a benzyl chloride group. Expectedly, 4-arm A2B2, ABC2, and 5-arm AB 2C2 asymmetric star-branched polymers containing poly(dimethylsiloxane) were quantitatively synthesized by the coupling reactions. Their high degrees of compositional and architectural homogeneity were confirmed by the analytical results of SEC, 1H NMR, and RALLS.
