Abstract
The synthesis of star-shaped polymers obtained through Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP) and from calixarene-based plurifunctional initiators is presented. The conditions that are the most appropriate to obtain star samples of well-defined structure and also the constraints pertaining to this methodology were thoroughly examined. Not only stars of polystyrenes, polytertbutyl acrylates, and polymethyl methacrylates could be synthesized but also the corresponding star block copolymers from this novel family of precisely defined initiators.
