Abstract

An all -fiber single -mode spectroscopic sensor has been realised. It allows the measurement of the absorption characteristics of a lossy medium. The sensitivity of the device depends on the geometrical factors of the probe and on the refractive index of the sensed medium. Theoretical calculation for a planar geometry and experimental measurements are presented.
