Abstract

The effect of resonance enhancement on the two-photon absorbing properties of fluorene derivatives was investigated. A quantum-chemical calculations of ND-2PA was performed relying on the perturbative sum-over-states (SOS) approach. Both molecules exhibited resonant enhancement of the nonlinearity with the assymetric compound showing as much as a twentyfold increase in δ. The results showed nearly five times enhancement in the value of peak 2PA cross-section for the symmetric compound, whereas the assymetric compound exhibited over threefold enhancement.
