Abstract

The reaction of anhydrous molybdenum-based heteropolyacids with diethylmethyl silane has been studied and the reaction products were characterized by various physicochemical methods such as infrared and Raman spectroscopies, XPS and solid-state NMR. The reaction leads to the evolution of hydrogen which reduces partly the polyacid, and to the formation of a [Et 2MeSi] species interacting weakly with the polyoxometalate. Upon reaction with oxygen insertion of oxygen into the Si-C bonds is observed, even at low temperature.
