Abstract
The pyrolysis of furan, 2-methylfuran (2MF) and 2,5- dimethylfuran (DMF) in a flow reactor at low pressure was investigated by synchrotron vacuum ultraviolet photoionization mass spectrometry. Dozens of pyrolysis products, especially radicals and isomers, were identified from photoionization efficiency spectra. Mass spectrometric analysis was performed to provide experimental evidences for discussions of decomposition pathways of three fuels. Based on the signals and formation temperatures, the major products from primary decomposition pathways of each fuel were determined, and the dominant decomposition pathways of furan, 2MF and DMF pyrolysis were discussed.
