Abstract

This paper concerns investigations of the third order nonlinear optical response of poly(arylene vinylene) polymers and in particular precursor route poly(p‐phenylene vinylene) [PPV]. Results for photoexcitation measurements provide information on the response time and the nature of the nonlinearity in the single‐photon resonant excitation regime. Transmission third harmonic generation [THG] measurements yield complimentary information on the single‐photon non‐resonant regime. Copyright © 1990 Hüthig & Wepf Verlag
