Abstract

Principle sediment components are small-scale carbonate and mixed carbonate-siliclastic shallowing upward cycles arranged in laterally correlateable transgressive and highstand system tracts. As many as six third-order cycles are indicated over the studied time period. The Maracaibo platform drowned during the late Albian and was subsequently covered by cyclic pelagic limestones of the organic-rich La Luna Formation. -Authors
