Abstract
A compact eight-transistor grounded nonlinear resistor possessing cubic-like current-voltage characteristics and optimized for low-voltage operation (±1.5 V) is designed in a 2 μ CMOS process. The resistor is then incorporated into the well-known Chua's circuit and tuned to develop the double-scroll chaotic attractor. The inherent nonlinear behaviours of a single-ended differential pair and simple current mirrors are used to shape the resistor characteristics.
