Low temperature plasma-chemical kinetic study for hydrogen

Abstract

Applications of plasmas to combustion processes, plasma-assisted combustion, have been extensively investigated for the last couple of decades [1–3]. Particularly, many studies have utilized non-thermal plasmas to augment flame stabilities, to facilitate ignition processes, and to promote a transition to the detonation. Although we have seen significant progress in the aforementioned areas, we still need to explore the fundamental aspects of the plasma-assisted combustion, with particular emphasis on the plasma-chemistry involving hydrocarbons. In the present study, we presented a kinetic study for H2/O2 mixtures to establish a foundation for the plasma-assisted chemical synthesis as well as the plasma-assisted hydrocarbon combustion systems. Note that the chemical effect of a balance gas such as nitrogen, argon, and helium must be considered in future studies
