Abstract

The single-wall carbon nanotubes filled with PbO were discussed using transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. It was found that the PbO crystallized in the orthorhombic phase forming nanowires inside the nanotube. It was observed that the position of PbO Raman lines were downshifted as compared to the bulk material as a result of the reduced dimensionality. Analysis shows that at higher laser power densities, the nanotubes oxidize and the free PbO nanowires are left in the sample.
