Abstract

Seismic data are sometimes corrupted by a source with au unknown origin time, receiver-static errors, source-static errors due to source mislocation, and/or an unknown source location. Such problems can be fatal for travel- time tomography. As a potential remedy, we propose the method of Iuterferometric Traveltime Tomography (ITT) where the phase delays bet w een the first arriads at tw o different receivers are inverted for the shyness field. In principle, the difference between the first arrival travel- times at tw o differert receivers can eliminate the unknown origin time of the source fuuctionwis ell as the source- static error. Syu thetic tests on the surface-refract ion data and crossw ell data with source-timing shifts show that ITT is effective in eliminating the source-timing shifts.
