N2 - The optical properties of poly(fluorene) materials, in which a small fraction (0.2%, 0.5%, and 2%) of the fluorene units was replaced by fluorenone segments, were studied. In the solid state, even such low concentrations of ketone groups resulted in an efficient energy transfer to a redshifted emissive state. Correlated quantum-chemical calculations allowed an unambiguous identification of this emissive state as being related to the inclusion of the fluorenone units.
