Abstract
We have demonstrated the feasibility of a novel process for forming servo patterns on glass by projection printing in a photodeformable polymer coating. The resolution of the process is a least 1.25 μm (2.5μm pitch). The resulting servo pattern provides signal to noise comparable to that obtained by injection molding of plastic substrates. The patterned polymer can be overcoated with active media and is stable in excess of 100°C. This represents a low cost method of producing servo patterns on glass substrates and these results indicate that the process warrants further investigation.
