Abstract
Gain migration dynamics and their influence on laser operations are presented. Theoretical and experimental investigations on the concentration dependence of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) and laser action were conducted. The higher the concentration, the faster the migration rate. The combination of different excited state relaxation processes results in the gain spectral distribution being time dependent within the exciton migration time. If the laser action builds up during the same time period, its behavior will necessarily depend critically on the evolution of the dynamics.
