Abstract
Single-layer P84 and dual-layer Ultem/P84 hollow fiber membranes with different morphology have been fabricated simultaneously via a dry-jet wet-spinning process. A discussion on the morphology and macrovoid evolution of the single-layer P84 and dual-layer Ultem/P84 covers structures for pressure-driven process applications; determining proper combinations of air gap distance; use of higher alcohol series, e.g., ethanol or 2-propanol; and impact of the type of the first coagulation bath and bore-fluid on the formation of macrovoids in the inner layer. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 2007 AIChE Annual Meeting (Salt Lake City, UT 11/4-9/2007).
