Abstract
A high speed photography is employed to investigate the spray characteristics of dieselpropane blends in a controllable active thermo-atmosphere. The spray developing process and other spray parameters are investigated in different blending ratios, background temperatures and inject pressures. The results showed that, the shape of blended fuel is obviously different from that of pure diesel. As the propane fraction increases, the penetration decreases and the spray angle increases. And a small amount propane gives an apparent change. The background temperature has a similar inuence on both diesel fuel and the blended fuel. The penetration and spray angle of both fuels decreases as the background temperature increases, and the latter is more sensitive.
