Abstract

Conventional seismic surveys are usually used to explore near-surface geology. This data has a decent signal-to-noise ratio and the depth of penetration is ranging from a few tens to a few hundred meters from the ground surface. However, it consumes a lot of time in the field and may suffer from low-velocity resolution, especially, at the top 20 meters. In this work, we used land-streamer surveys to enhance the resolution of the velocity model at the top 20 meters by inverting the traveltime picks from both conventional and land-streamer surveys simultaneously, which keeps the advantages of both surveys. The proposed approach is tested using one field example. The traveltime tomogram of the conventional + land-streamer data shows the same depth of penetration as the conventional tomogram and high-velocity resolution as the land-streamer tomogram.
