Abstract

This paper presents results on the effect of the length and symmetry of alkoxy side chains on the optical and electrical properties of a family of soluble poly(phenylene vinylene) (PPV) derivatives. Highly efficient single-layer light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have been fabricated with efficiencies up to 0.24% for indium-tin-oxide (ITO)/polymer/A1 structures and brightnesses over 1000 cd m-2. © 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
