Abstract

The electrical properties of cement-based composites doped with carbon black nanoparticles (CB) are discussed. Several CB concentrations were considered and tested under compressive load whilst the resistivity variation was read in tandem. The aim of evaluating stress in function of the electrical resistivity is to study the potential of these materials for self-monitoring applications in civil infrastructures. Results demonstrate a resistivity decrease followed by an increase of the stress sensitivity when increasing the CB amount in the mixture.
