Abstract

A new dual band CPW fed bow-tie slot antenna on leather substrate is presented. The antenna is fabricated using inkjet printing directly on leather substrate. The dual band operation is achieved by loading the bow-tie slot antenna with bend slot stubs on the edges. The antenna operates at around 1.7 GHz and 2.9 GHz. The measured impedance bandwidth of the antenna in the two bands is 13.8% and 16.6%. It is the first ever antenna fabricated using inkjet printing on leather. The proposed antenna design is attractive for wearable and flexible electronic systems. A new concept of shoe radar for antipersonnel mine detection is presented which can utilize the proposed antenna.
