Abstract
We have recorded simultaneous, degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) and planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) images of OH in an atmospheric pressure methane/air flame. The overall goal of this effort was to gain experience in the practical issues associated with making quantitative temperature-field maps using DFWM. We used the acquired PLIF images as a guide to understand the acquired DFWM images. Below, we discuss some of the practical issues of DFWM imaging with regard to corrections for beam absorption, beam steering and keying of images. Cover Figure - Examples of observed DFWM and PLIF images are indicated in relation to the burner surface. The rectangular image on the left side of the figure was constructed from two DFWM images recorded at two mean positions above the burner. The square image centered over the burner was constructed from two PLIF images taken at two mean heights above the burner.
