    Abstract

Abstract: Interaction of scandium(III) salts with 2,2′-bipyridine-4,4′-dicarboxylic and terephthalic acids under solvothermal conditions yields two novel metal-organic frameworks [Sc2(HCOO)2(OH)2(bpydc)]·2H2O (1) and [Sc(HCOO)(bdc)] (2), where bpydc2– is 2,2′-bipyridine-4,4′-dicarboxylate, bdc2– is terephthalate, HCOO is formate. The crystal structures of compounds 1 and 2 are determined by single-crystal XRD. Both compounds contain formate anions as additional linkers and have a dense structure. The chemical composition and phase purity of studied compounds are confirmed by powder XRD, TG analysis, elemental analysis, and IR spectroscopy.
