Abstract

A communicating setting apparatus and a method of a MIMO(Multi Input Multi Output) system are provided to determine the number of reception antennas easily satisfying a desired ergodic channel capacity. The number of reception antennas is determined by using an average SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio). A receiver that has calculated an SNR of a reception channel feeds back corresponding information to a transmitter at the ratio of the instantaneous SNR. The transmitter maintains a link performance at a pre-set target BER(Bit Error Rate) by adjusting the size of modulation of information to be transmitted by using the feedback information.
