Abstract

The P-wave eikonal equation for orthorhombic media is the sixth-order PDE with complex and timeconsuming numerical solution. We propose to approximate the solution of this equation by applying multiparametric perturbation method. We also investigate the sensitivity of traveltime surface in orthorhombic media with respect to three anelliptic parameters. A simple moveout equation valid for orthorhombic media is derived.
