Abstract

The problem of retrieving information from large repositories built on top of ad-hoc peer-to-peer (P2P) networks was discussed. The FuzzyPeer which supports content based similarity queries was developed. A adaptive query freezing (AQF), a simple, efficient distributed optimizaton algorithm, which improves the scalability and the throughput of the system was proposed. AQF uses a parameter a q to control the length of message queues in the peers and freeze queries accordingly.
