Abstract
In this paper we discuss design considerations for integrated DC-DC converters towards achieving optimal converter performance in the face of parasitic effects. Integrated converters are realized by utilizing spiral inductors, which allow for low area and high quality factor solutions. However, using spiral inductors in DC-DC converters requires accounting for the inter-dependency between inductance and resistance of the spiral inductor in the design of the DC-DC converter. We present techniques to mitigate this inter-dependency and discuss how the various converter parameters affect its performance.
