A lumped kinetic model for heavy fuel oil combustion

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

The study proposes a new procedure based on the Coats-Redfern method to develop kinetic model for predicting the combustion characteristics of heavy fuel oils. The direct usage of the method in previous studies provided different kinetic values for the three heavy oil combustion stages: low temperature oxidation, fuel deposition, and high temperature oxidation. The new and improved procedure is used to determine the kinetic parameters for every pseudo component reaction in the combustion process. The curve predicted from the kinetic results of the new procedure fits better with the experimental data.
