Abstract

A low-cost technique for generating multiple-bandgaps for 1.55 μm optical fibre communication was investigated. The small shifts were observed in photoluminescence spectrum due to the thermal diffusion of grown-in defects in the heterostructures. The result shows that the tuning of photoluminescence spectrum to different wavelength is possible which indicates the feasibility of multiple wavelength laser diode and integrated modulated-laser source fabrications for the low-cost process.
