Abstract

Two-dimensional (2D) direct numerical simulation (DNS) is adopted to study the radiation effects on a freely propagating turbulent premixed syngas flame. The discrete ordinate method (DOM) has been used for solving the radiative transfer equation (RTE) with grey radiation properties. The DNS results show that the turbulence structures in the flame front as well as the turbulent flame thickness and displacement speed are subject to changes as of radiation effects.
