Research Overview

- Design, synthesis and characterization of a wide range of intrinsically microporous polymeric materials with excellent membrane gas separation performance. These membranes show an excellent combination of high permeability and selectivity for a number of important gas pairs (e.g, O2/N2, CO2/CH4, N2/CH4, H2/N2, H2/CH4, CH4/C4H10) which makes them good candidate membrane materials for different applications such as (i) generation of oxygen-enriched air and onsite nitrogen production; (ii) natural gas purification; and (iii) recovery of H2 from petrochemical waste gas streams. - Synthesis of microporous network polymers that mimic the properties of the traditional microporous materials and have high adsorption capacity toward various gases.

Key Research Areas

Polymers of intrinsic microporosity, triptycene, membrane gas separation, gas sorption, polyimides, ladder polymers.
